Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
he will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
 
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
 
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of esay wind and downy flake.
 
The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to fo before I sleep.
 
 

이 숲이 누구의 것인지 알 것 같은데
하지만, 그의 집은 저 건너 마을에 있다
아마도 그는 숲이 눈으로 가득 한 것을 보려고
내가 여기 멈춰서 있는 것을 못 보겠지.
 
내 조랑말이 이상하게 여길거야
농장도 근처에 없는 곳에 멈춰서 있는 것을
숲과 얼어붙은 호수 사이에서
올해의 가장 어두운 저녁시간에
 
녀석은 馬具의 방울을 흔든다.
무엇이 잘못되었는지 물으려는 듯이,
그 외에 들리는 소리는 느릿한 바람과
보드라운 눈송이가 스치는 소리
 
숲은 아름답고 어둡고 깊다.
허지만 나는 지켜야 할 약속이 있다.
그리고 잠들기 전에 가야 할 먼 길이 남아있다.
